Between 4-5 of June, the Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre took part in one of the largest events organized by the Municipal Enterprise “Youth Centre Plovdiv” – International Youth Festival “Act and Impact”.
During the festival, an expert from the Centre presented to the participants (young people, youth workers and other professionals working with them) the methodology “Youth Leading Change”. Which aims to train young people to become peer educators. The Safer Internet Centre also hosted an information booth.
The festival was a celebration for all young people and those who work with and for them. The event was launched with the wonderful performances of the young people from the ART CREW group and the students from Lyuben Karavelov Secondary School in Plovdiv.
Among the participants were representatives of the National Network of Youth Centres, Youth International Centre – Burgas, Youth Centre – Vratsa, Youth Centre Gabrovo, Youth Centre – Dobrich, Youth Centre – Montana, International Youth Centre – Pernik, International Youth Centre – Stara Zagora, Municipal Enterprise “Youth Centre Plovdiv”; Braga Youth Centre (Centro de Juventude de Braga – Pousada de Juventude) and Timisoara Youth Centre (FITT Timisoara).
In addition to the centres, the festival was attended by organizations at national and international level, such as the National Center for Safe Internet, Asociacion de Jovenes de Mollina – Mollina Joven, National Youth Forum, Trust for Social Alternative, Bulgarian Youth Red Cross – Plovdiv, National Scout Organization of Bulgaria, Erasmus Student Network Bulgaria, Ekaterina Karavelova Academy, Europe Direct Plovdiv, National High School of Trade and Commerce, UN Society in Bulgaria – “Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the UN” programme, Smokinya Foundation, Together with Elena Stoycheva, representatives of the Student Council in Pernik, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bulgaria Association, Children and Youth Centre – Dimitrovgrad, Young Generation in Action, Leader Academy, PGKIT “Dr. Ivan Bogorov”, Regional Centre for Supporting the Process of Inclusive Education – Plovdiv, BG Be Active, Health Activity and Technologies Institute, Institute for Technology Transfer and Innovations, Youth Speak Association, Caritas Workshop and Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BirdLife Bulgaria).
Each organization presented its activities in the form of an exhibition on the Rowing Base promenade. In the meantime, representatives of the partner organizations had the opportunity to lead sessions on the premises of the Youth Centre. The main themes were related to youth entrepreneurship, volunteering, youth policies and decision-making, online safety, environmental protection, health and sports, international exchanges and programmes developing the knowledge and skills of the young people.
The festival was part of the project “Youth Centre Plovdiv – a powerful factor for local development” within the program “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Improved Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups”, funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 – 2021.
