Materials for parents

As parents, we play a key role in guiding children in the digital world. Here you will find useful materials to help you talk to them, understand the online environment in which part of their daily life takes place, and support them to use the internet in a safe and meaningful way.

In the resources, you will find information in plain language about the most common online dangers for children – online bullying, fraud via gaming platforms, extortion with sexual content, data theft, etc. You’ll find materials on the importance of digital literacy from an early age, recommended screen time, what to expect when starting 1st grade, and the second big change – junior high. Each document or publication also contains simple practical advice on how to provide a safe online environment for your child. You’ll find guidance on parental control programs, generating strong passwords, security settings on different social networks and chats, and much more.

In addition to providing free information resources, we assist parents with information meetings and trainings across the state. The topics are tailored to the current online challenges faced by children at the relevant age – specific features of social networks, online bullying, sexual abuse, fraud through platforms, digital-media literacy, etc. Ask your school about setting up a meeting with experts from the National Safer Internet Centre.
